FORD FOUNDATION, NYC | Participatory Food Performance for Fin collaboration with Sarah K. Williams
Cantando Bajito: Convening in Chorus. Ford Foundation, New York. 2024.
Inspired by the nourishing properties of the kudzu plant, as it stores the plants nutrients in its tubular root network deep within the Earth’s soil, this performance imagines an edible landscape born out of kudzu’s roots. With “stickiness” made from powdered kudzu roots as the edible medium that glues all the ingredients together, this performance invites the audience to build a collective landscape together with both sweet and savory flavor profiles. We represent mountain, forests, lakes, and soil in this new production of co-creating food landscapes and enjoying the plentitude together.

Presented as the culminating event for Cantando Bajito: Convening in Chorus | October 10, 2024 at Ford Foundation Gallery, NYC
Cantando Bajito, presented across three exhibitions, featured artists who explore forms of creative resistance in the wake of widespread gender-based violence. Over its arc, the series has reflected on Testimonies (March 5 – May 4, 2024), the forms that bearing witness can take, Incantations (June 5 – August 10, 2024), the channels that transmit protective knowledge, and Chorus (October 8 – December 7, 2024), the importance of collective making, organizing, and care arising from interdependence in shared struggles.
